Позвольте мені представити Вам одну важну і пекучу справу, яка мене не покоїть через довші роки!
Сусіди, які живуть по обох боках мої батьківщини, допускаються до шкідливих учинків. Оден з одної сторони (себто з свого боку) підкопує і підрубує коріння деревам, та загрожує, що всі дерева висушить, а другий з другої сторони, коли городив новий пліт, то поступив на мій бік тілько, кілько йому захотілося. Тут ще більше знайдеться проти цих сусідів, про що Вам розкажуть опікун (Т. Михнюк) і мій шваґер Василь Савєк, Грицька.
В хаті мешкає вдова Марія Щербань жена Пантели, котра також там спричинила багато шкоди. Не оден пліт вона розгородила і спалила. Верби обрубала в не правельну пору і мусіли всохнути.

Позрубувала вишневі і сливові дерева, котрі з’ужила на паливо. Також і деякі ясіні позрубувала. Я її пожалував як бідну вдову і впустив до хати мешкати на якийсь час і позволив її ще робити половину городу. Однак, коли вона відмовилась платити частину податку від хати і город, так по кількох роках я на писав опікунови, щоби її не позволив більше робити ту половину городу, а щоби він сам робив обидві половині.
Довідуюся з старо-краєвих письмів, що ця женщина вибралась з хати минувшого літа і побудувала свою власну хату на якімусь зарінку. Якщо це вона не побудувалась на моїм власнім зарінку, який опікун купив від громади і прилучив до мого ґрунту.
Ця женщина малаби поповнити за всі роки не як політки і комірне, а податки від городу і хати. Як раз ту суму, яку, що уникнула, та опікун мусів платити. Я її закомірне і за політки нічого не числив, але податки, які припадали на ню, то мала платити. Отже я ставлю упімнення, щоби всі шкоди і уникнені податки вона заплатила.

В цій справі треба буде штучно підійти до опікуна, щоби все викрив і виказав на повище згаданих осіб. Я йому писав около три роки тому, щоби пішов до Косова і знайшов відповідного адвоката і преслав мені його адресу.
Я хотів підприняти кроки проти всіх тих, що ограбують і поповняють ріжного рода сабатаж на моій батьківщині. Мій опікун, коли почув, що я хочу, аж так далеко поступити, так в той час почав мені писати, що такого не треба робити, бо буде багато клопоту і т.д.
Також не дуже мило йому буде, коли почує, що я хочу ґрунт заінтабулювати на себе. Він є мій якийсь свояк і дуже бажавби, щоби ціла ця господарка оставилася так як була до тепер.
Він збирав політки з обох половин городу від коли опікуном його батько був назначений, а відтак він. Тут тільки оден виняток був, а це цяя женщина що там мешкала і робила одну половину городу щось 4 роки.4
Тепер мій опікун робить лише одну половину городу, а другу мій шваґер (Василь Савєк, Грицька). Це я зарядив так в 1934 році.
Мій шваґер прислав мені Вашу адресу. На цего чоловіка я можу спусти[ти]ся з усим, що маю. Він є вірний і щирий.
Коли будете покликати опікуна на допити, то і покличте мого шваґра, щоби там був присутний. Колиб опікун дещо не похочував виявляти, так це йому не вдасться, як мій шваґер там буде присутним.
Прошу подати мені Вашу умірковану ціну, на цю всю справу. Справа у цім пісьмі не має нічого спільного зі справою інтабуляції ґрунту. Тут маєте дві сеператні справі.Остаюсь з глубоким поважанням

Let me introduce one important and bitter case that has been bothering me for years!
Neighbors that live on both sides of my land inherited from my father do harmful actions. A neighbor from one side (i.e., from his side) digs down and chops the roots of the trees, and he threatens to dry out all the trees; another neighbor from the other side, when he was putting up a new fence, moved it to my side grabbing as much of my land as he wanted. My custodian (T. Mykhniuk) and my brother-in-law, Wasyl Sawiek, son of Hrytsko, will tell you more regarding the actions of those neighbors.
In our house lives a widow, Maria Shcherban, wife of Pantela, who also has caused a lot of damage. She dismantled and burnt more than one fence. She chopped the willow trees at the wrong time, and they died out.

She’s cut down the cherry and plum trees and used them as firewood. She also cut down some ash trees. I felt sorry for her as a poor widow and let her live in the house for some time; I also let her cultivate half of a garden. Yet, she refused to pay a part of the house and garden taxes; so in several years after she moved in, I wrote to the custodian asking him to not let her use the half of the garden and instead cultivate both parts himself.
I’ve learnt from the Old Country’s letters that the woman moved out the house last summer and built herself a house on the land near the riverbanks. That could well be my own piece of land, which the custodian has purchased from the community and added to my plot. This woman should pay for all the years, not for the garden and house rent, but for the garden and house taxes. Whatever she avoided paying, the custodian had to pay that sum of money. I did not charge her anything for house rent or garden rent, but she still had to pay her taxes. Therefore, I want to warn her to pay for all the damages and unpaid taxes.3
In this case, the custodian should be consulted so that he can reveal all the information and bear witness against the aforementioned individuals. I wrote to him about three years ago, asking him to go to Kosiv to find a qualified lawyer and send me his address.
I would like to take actions against all those people who are burglarizing and sabotaging in various ways my inherited property. When my custodian heard that I want to proceed that far, he started writing to me that I should not do that, for there would be too much trouble and so on.
He will not be pleased either to hear that I want to intabulate the property rights on our land. He is some kind of a distant relative to me, and he would really like the whole homestead to remain the same way it was till now.
He collected the garden rent in kind from both halves since the times his father was assigned as a custodian; and after his father, he started collecting it. There was only one exception— the woman who lived there and cultivated half of the garden for about 4 years.4
Now my custodian cultivates one half of the garden, and my brother-in-law (Wasyl Sawiek, son of Hrytsko) the other half. I made this arrangement back in 1934.
My brother-in-law sent me Your address. I can rely on this man completely. He is loyal and trustworthy.When you invite the custodian for questioning, call my brother-in-law too to be present there. Should the custodian try to conceal some information, he would not succeed at that if my brother-in-law is present.
Please give me Your reasonable pricing for this case. The case described in this letter has nothing to do with the case of the land intabulation. You have here two separate cases.
